A cross-disciplinary seminar on the interplay between artificial intelligence and physics — from theory to experiment, and from research practice to publishing, hiring and training.
AI heralds a profound change in every scientific discipline. Mathematics is already experiencing it head-on, and physics is beginning to as well.
Now is the right time to reflect together on what this means for the way we do physics — from theory to experiment — and for publishing, hiring and training; and on how to use AI well, keeping our role as researchers at the centre. These questions matter for researchers, and even more for students, PhD candidates and early-career researchers.
More about the seminarThe talks address three complementary questions.
Overviews of how AI could transform the discipline, its practices and education; societal issues (sovereignty, energy consumption).
